Scope

Welcome to the Chinese studies library guide. This guide directs you to print and eclectronic resources that are useful for students, researchers and teaching staff in the area of Chinese studies. The strengths of the Chinese studies collection are: contemporary literature of China, Politics and government of China and Taiwan, religious studies , especially Tibetan Buddhism, culture and customs of China, history of China's Northwestern region, language studies and translation.

Chinese language print materials are held in the Asian Studies Research Collection (Matheson Library, Clayton).

English-language materials relating to Chinese studies are mainly held in the General Collecion, Mathesion Library and the Caulfield library.

Archival materials and older newspapers are held on microfilm and microfiche. There is also a good collection of Chinese movies on video and DVD.

Many rare items on China have been acquired over the years, including a number of 18th and 19th century monographs and a collection of Chinese political posters from the 1970s.
