Introduction

"Taxation in Australia is levied at three levels of government: Federal, State and local. Examples of Federal taxes include income tax, fringe benefits tax, goods and services tax, sales tax, customs and excise duty, and departure tax. State taxes include land tax, payroll tax, stamp duty, financial institutions duty, and debits tax. Local government taxes include property rates" (Encyclopaedic Australian Legal Dictionary).

The Law, Matheson, Caulfield, Peninsula, Berwick and Gippsland libraries provide support for teaching and research in taxation law.

Taxation Law and Policy Research Institute

 Taxation Law and Policy Research Institute (Department of Business Law and Taxation, Monash University)

The Taxation Law and Policy Research Institute (TLPRI) is dedicated to taxation law research. Membership of the Institute comprises academic staff teaching and researching taxation law and policy, research fellows and graduate students completing research in the area of taxation law and policy. The Director is Professor Rick Krever.

Tax Research Group - Faculty of Business and Economics and Faculty of Law

The Departments of Accounting and Finance and Business Law and Taxation in the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Law at Monash University contain a group of very active academic taxation law staff who have established substantial research profiles in a number of areas.
