EndNote: Using EndNote Online with MS Word

This software package for managing references (citations) is available free to Monash University students and staff. This guide has information about working with EndNote in the Monash University environment.

Microsoft Word - Cite While You Write

N.B. EndNote Online users who do not have EndNote desktop installed should ensure they have downloaded the 'CWYW plug in' from the Options tab in EndNote Online.

'Cite While You Write' allows you to create in-text citations and the corresponding reference list, in your preferred referencing style, while you work on your document in Word.

Activate EndNote Online in the Word toolbar

Open Word.

Under Preferences in the EndNote toolbar, choose the Applications tab

Select EndNote Online option from the dropdown box for Application

When you have your library preference set to EndNote Online the EndNote tool bar in Word will look like this:
