Engineering: Mechatronics

This guide provides a selection of resources for research in Engineering and is intended primarily for undergraduates in Engineering.

Guide to call numbers

The Monash libraries use the Dewey Decimal Classification scheme to organise books and journals. This ensures that all materials on similar subject areas are kept together on the shelves. The following call numbers may be useful as a guide when browsing the shelves for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and related subject areas.

Numbers Subject
003 Computer systems, information systems
004 Data processing
005 Computer programming, software engineering
006 Expert systems
006.3 Artificial Intelligence
621 Applied physics (Class here mechanical engineering)
621.3 Electrical, electronic engineering
621.31 Power generation, storage, transmission
621.37 Testing and measurement of electrical quantities
621.38 Electronics and communications engineering
621.39 Computer engineering
629.8 Control systems
629.836 Adaptive control systems
629.89 Computer control, inc. robots
629.892 Robots
670.285 Computer applications in manufacturing
670.427 Mechanization and automation of factory operation

Locating journals

  1. Choose Advanced Search
  2. Change the pull down menu from Any to In the title and type the title of the journal in double quotes - eg “Australian journal of multi-disciplinary engineering”
  3. Then choose Journals from the Materials type pull down menu (This will ensure you don’t also retrieve records of articles from the journal: Australian journal of multi-disciplinary engineering
  4. Click Go
  5. Online access indicates some full-text content . Click the Details tab and click Full-text available from... (ensure the year, volume and issue of your article is included in the date ranges for the full-text.)
  6. The print version if available will be viewable from the Locations tab. Again, check the dates covered next to Summary holdings
