Indigenous knowledge encompasses both traditional and evolving knowledges of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people in many forms, cultural language, art, stories and dance as well as the written word.
Attribution is encouraged when citing Indigenous peoples in academic writing or Indigenous knowledges used by non-Indigenous authors.
The Indigenous Knowledges Attribution Toolkit has been developed by the Indigenous Archives Collective (IAC) to assist students and librarians to reference Indigenous knowledge. The PDF toolkit has two parts, a citation and referencing guide with examples, and a decision tree with guidance for assessing content and attribution.
