COVID-19 'Free to Access, Access to Free' e-resources: Copyright

Useful information

Copyright Free, open access and Creative Commons resources are readily available and may provide a useful alternative. See the Copyright Free and Creative Commons Guide for a listing of different resources by category.

If you are concerned about what you are allowed to copy and communicate under copyright and whether there are any exceptions that may apply during the COVID-19 health crisis, please contact your librarian, the Readings and Reserve coordinator or the Copyright Adviser

Copying under the Educational Copyright Licence

Under the Educational copyright licence staff can copy and communicate online 10% or one chapter of a book and one article per issue of a journal.

If a book is unavailable for purchase (such as being out of print) it may be possible to copy and communicate more. Please contact your librarian, Readings and Reserve or the Copyright Adviser if you need to make available more than this standard amount.

These allowances are subject to existing licence conditions for subscribed eresources, which may place additional restrictions on permitted copying and communication. Please contact your librarian if you are having any problems accessing eresources.

Under this licence you can also copy and communicate material from broadcast TV and Foxtel for students. However, Netflix, Stan, Disney, Amazon Prime and other streaming services are not included in this licence.

Other AV material is available under TVNews [for teaching only] , EduTV [for teaching only] , Artfilms digital or Kanopy. Please contact your librarian if you need special access to materials.
