What is Moodle?
Moodle is the online portal that you will use at Monash University to access online materials for all of your units. It is where you will find your weekly materials and information, links to your online classes, and also be able to read and post in your class forums, and submit your assignments.
Tips for mastering Moodle View
NoteThere are two versions of Moodle, Moodle 3.9 and Moodle 4.1. Can't see all your units? |
- Moodle 4.1 is for most units that started after 31 Oct 2023.
- Moodle 3.9 is for:
- all units that started before 31 Oct 2023
- Monash Online units.
You can access the different versions of Moodle by using the direct links below, or by using the navigation in your myMonash portal.
In your myMonash portal, click on the Moodle tile and select the version you want to access from the pop-up menu.
Click on the tabs above to know how to identify which version you are in and how to navigate between them.
You will know you are in Moodle 4.1 if:
- The URL starts with ‘learning’
- The first page you see has ‘Dashboard’ written at the top
- There is a collapsible navigation bar on the right hand side of the screen.
From the main page of Moodle 4.1, you can navigate to Moodle 3.9 by clicking on the ‘Moodle 3.9’ button in the ‘Can’t see all your units?’ block which is in the right-hand block menu. If you cannot see the right hand side menu click the ‘<’ arrow to open it.
You will know you are in Moodle 3.9 if:
- The URL starts with ‘lms’
- The first page you see has ‘Monash Moodle’ written at the top
- There is a collapsible navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen.
From the main page of Moodle 3.9, you can navigate to Moodle 4.1 by clicking on the ‘Moodle 4.1’ button in the ‘Can’t see all your units?’ block on the right-hand side of the screen.
