Step 3. Appraise the evidence

Once you have found the research evidence needed to answer your clinical question, the next step is to critically appraise the evidence. This step is crucial to ensure the research is of good quality. It is important to assess whether the research methodology is sound, and where possible, to identify bias. Finally, once you have established that the evidence is valid, you must ask yourself if it can be applied to your patient or scenario.
