Evidence based practice: Step 2. ACQUIRE

Step 2. Acquire the evidence

Step 2, Acquire involves searching for evidence in Library databases and EBP resources. The type of question you ask determines the level of evidence or study design that you need to find. Effective searching takes time, practice and an understanding of how different databases are structured and best utilised.

We recommend using a combination of subject headings and keywords when searching appropriate evidence-based practice databases, as well as exploring a variety of databases, including their tutorials and 'help' tools.
