Data Extraction

In a few cases, Cari and Lee identified that the data they needed would have been collected, but were not specifically reported, due to the focus of the original study. In these cases, they found information for the corresponding authors and emailed them to ask for copies of the data. They also contacted authors where specific information that they required was not reported in the published articles. A few of the records found were detailed, peer-reviewed conference abstracts. Cari and Lee looked for follow-up publications, as well as contacting those authors to ask for copies of their presentations or any data files that were available. In some cases additional data were provided; in other cases no data or further details were available and these articles had to be excluded.
