Chicago 17th (A) Notes and Bibliography

Government sources

  • Government sources often include a catalogue number. The catalogue number can be omitted if not available.
  • A government organisation may be both the author and the publisher of a document.
  • For information on listing multiple authors see advice on the note citation and bibliography pages.
  • The Chicago Manual of Style does not require that access dates be included in references to formally published online sources, unless no date of publication is provided.
  • If referencing the same organisation five or more times, you may add an abbreviation in parentheses after the name in the first instance. You can then reference the abbreviation for later entries.
  • Abbreviations to Australian states and territories follow the Australia Post Address Presentation Standards on page 24.
