Japanese studies

Using this guide

This guide introduces you to physical and online information, resources and tools. They have all been carefully selected to help you study or research Japanese Studies at Monash.

The guide will also help you to develop your skills in finding useful material.

For Japanese, physical materials such as books and other printed publications are mostly held in the Asian Collections (Level 1, Matheson Library, Clayton). These comprise strong research and teaching materials. Topics include history of modern Japan, contemporary Japanese society, economics, women's studies, popular culture, literature, language and linguistics. In addition there are traditional scores and sound recordings in the music collection and a separate Japanese Teaching Collection to support Japanese language teachers.

English-language materials relating to Japanese studies are mainly held in the General Collection at Matheson Library (Clayton).
